CAPTION: Ed Douglas, of Chillicothe, has published a second book, "The Money Marathon: 7 Simple Steps to financial Freedom." The book is geared toward young adults on up and provides a step-by-step guide to achieving financial goals. He will have a book signing at Hy-Vee this Saturday.

Chillicothe financial expert Ed Douglas, who has shared advice with thousands of young adults through his book "Making a Million with only $2,000: Every Young Person Can Do It," has published yet another book, "The Money Marathon: 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom."

While his first book focuses on the impact of compound interest and the million-dollar result that can accumulate through the years by steadily investing $2,000 annually when starting at a young age, his latest book is more geared toward young adults on up and provides a step-by-step guide to achieving financial goals.

"This is a new book for young couples on up," Douglas said. "This book provides a basic and concise plan to help people in all areas of personal finance."

Douglas, 56, a certified financial planner, has been involved in finances for more than 30 years. He retired at the beginning of 2006 from Citizens Bancshares, headquartered in Chillicothe, after nearly 32 years with the company. He had spent the last 20 years as company president and, later, chairman and CEO. Under Douglas' leadership at Citizens Bancshares, the company grew its capital and increased assets over tenfold to a one billion dollar bank holding company with locations in 25 towns. His current title is chairman emeritus and board member of Citizens Bancshares.

Douglas often travels throughout the Midwest and shares with students his expertise of financial issues and the power of compounding interest. He has talked to more than 7,000 students in the last 10 years. He has sold 8,000 copies of his first book, which is now in its second printing. "The Money Marathon: 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom" blends together Douglas' interest in marathon running and his knowledge of finances.

Douglas is a member of the 50 States Marathon Club, having run 14 marathons in 13 states and in his latest book compares his financial experiences with his love of running marathons to create an easy-to-read financial guide.
